Fresh starts

Whilst some ponds we visit require a full overhaul, a new vision or a complete refurbishment, some ponds are just in need of a little TLC.  It may be that the pond has simply become too much for you to manage, time doesn't allow for regular maintenance, or perhaps it was the pride and joy of a relative who has passed its care to you.  It may be that you have inherited a pond with your new house, and wouldn't know where to start with it.  It may even be that you enjoy maintaining your own pond, but it has just become a bit overgrown and you need a bit of help to freshen it up.  That is where we come in.

Why should I have a fresh start

An overgrown pond on your property can be a real eyesore.  Worse than that though, an unkempt pond can be harmful to fish and wildlife, at worse, deadly.  Build up of decaying plant matter and fish waste will result in creation of a toxic sludge which gives off harmful gases.  Oxygen levels can drop dangerously low and overgrown plants block out the light creating a dank environment that underwater plants struggle to survive in.

When your pond has reached this point, a full empty and clean is required.

What is a fresh start

A fresh start is simply that.  Our expert team will remove and safely house your fish whilst your pond is fully emptied and cleaned.  Waters are rebuilt with beneficial bacterias and minerals before your fish and plant life are reintroduced.  This can also be a great time to add more plants to your water, or if you are looking for something a bit different, our team can offer suggestions tailored to you.

A fresh start takes between 1 - 5 days.  A member of our team will visit your property prior to us giving you a date to assess your pond and advise you of estimated timescale.  They will be happy to answer any questions you have, just be warned, our team love to talk all things water!

We require any ponds that we have not worked on before to have a fresh start before joining our maintenance programme.  This is crucial so we can establish the integrity of the pond and advise of any potential areas of concern.  We recommend a fresh start when a new filtration system is installed to allow for maximum effectiveness.  All clients are recommended a fresh start at a minimum of every three years with some ponds requiring a yearly clean.   Ideal circumstances for a fresh start will be in the winter when your fish are dormant and plant life is at its most inactive.
